The importance of cybersecurity audits according to Altiore!

08 Jan 2025

In a context of increasing digitalization, businesses are becoming more exposed to cyberattacks.

Altiore, our group’s IT company specializing in IT security, supports businesses in protecting their infrastructure against the threat of cyberattacks.

Fabrice Martin, IT Director, and Christophe Demoulin, Team Leader, both certified in cybersecurity, emphasize the importance for companies to protect themselves against these risks, notably by conducting a preliminary audit. What is it? Why implement it? When should it be carried out? What are the different steps? We explain everything in detail in this article!

An audit to prevent risks

An IT security audit aims to highlight flaws in an IT infrastructure, reduce the risk of attack, and list actions to strengthen a company’s IT security.

Christophe Demoulin explains: “an IT security audit is an essential step to identify vulnerabilities and guarantee the availability of your infrastructure and the integrity of confidential data.”

The steps of a security audit

“It begins with the precise definition of the scope to be analyzed, targeting critical systems and infrastructures. Then, an in-depth technical analysis evaluates the state of systems, backups, and updates, ensuring data availability through reliable backups. Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) are also checked to ensure an effective response in the event of an incident,” emphasizes Fabrice Martin.

Christophe Demoulin adds, “The audit also includes the verification of best practices, such as the use of strong passwords and two-factor authentication, as well as the traceability of connections. The physical security of infrastructures is also checked to prevent any unauthorized access.”

Finally, a detailed report proposes concrete solutions and includes employee awareness training to strengthen their vigilance against digital risks.

Benefit from business vouchers

Altiore is certified for “cybersecurity business vouchers.” Thanks to this accreditation, the Walloon Region covers up to 75% of the cost of the audit.

An audit, coupled with tailored recommendations, constitutes an essential barrier against cyber threats and guarantees the continuity of your activities. Don’t wait until it’s too late! Proactive cybersecurity is the key to the smooth continuity of your business.
